12:05] Fawn Cobalt: Safe waters foundation (SWF) is a not-for-profit group supporting the development of harmony and safety for merfolk and aquatics of second life, we bring together designers, retailers, sims, merrow, mermen, mermaids, siren, aquatics and lovers of same.
[12:05] Fawn Cobalt: People seem to arrive late and depart early. Please don’t be offended but as leader I will try to keep the meeting going. We don’t repeat things for latecomers – a transcript will be posted on the SWF website after the meeting. So, feel free to go back and read the transcript at your convenience. [12:38] Fawn Cobalt: Okay, since Miranda is not here today, I would like to talk about MIranda Barrowstone’s Antiquity.
[12:38] Fawn Cobalt: Antiquity is actually spread out over 16 interconnected sims with activity both on land and under the water. This is a destination for mermaids, merfolks and humans. Antiquity is very inclusive and all are welcome – kids, mers, furs, landers, and they are LGBTQ+ friendly. They are a place for RP but don’t have set stories, so everyone is welcome to work out their own.

[12:38] Fawn Cobalt: These Antiquity sims have a system called TCS, which is a craft/trade/rp system that allows you to trade goods with others, and also to harvest and create things. Antiquity also has homes available for rent and shopping spaces. You can reach Antiquity by teleporting to this SLURL Antiquity Bexar (178,107,2)

[12:41] Fawn Cobalt: Miss Karlie wanted to announce that The Purrl’s Champagne Beach launched a Merquarium to cater for merfolk.
[12:41] Fawn Cobalt: Being members of the mer community, it struck Miss Karlie that there were scant options for people in our mer forms to take in live shows, so She set about building a Merquarium where we can all enjoy live entertainment and parties from the safety of a water space without having to be on the land.
[12:41] Fawn Cobalt: The Purrl features live singers, ballroom acts, and beach party DJ’s at our venues, all of which can be seen and heard from the safety of the Merquarium. Whether there’s a show in the formal ballroom, the beach, the 1950s diner, or the upcoming winter ice ballroom/skating rink, they can all be enjoyed from the safety of the water. As is tradition for merfolk everywhere, the Merquarium is shell-optional and is the only part of the sim that allows toplessness, except for special events for landwalkers, like the upcoming Rock Your Rack fundraiser.
[12:42] Fawn Cobalt: And I would just like to add that the Merquarium is the LARGEST tank I have ever seen in SL. It is so large that you don’t really feel like you are in a tank.
[12:43] Fawn Cobalt: And I also want to thank Tabi who helped us to get a beautiful swordfish for the merquarium!

[12:44] Fawn Cobalt: Travel & Adventure is a group for anyone who is interested in traveling and exploring this virtual SL world. This is a very active and fun group, It is the group that gives you access to the best free travel and tourism opportunities in Second Life. There is no charge to join the group and there is no charge to take any of the trips and tours announced in the group.
[12:44] Fawn Cobalt: One of the first things you will notice after joining is that you will see announcements from airlines, cruise operators, and even railroads and bus lines letting you know about their trips. You will be able to take trips on airplanes, helicopters, and even blimps! Or jump on a yacht cruise or a ferry boat or water taxi across the Blake Sea. You will see all kinds of opportunities. You can pick and choose whichever ones sound most interesting and go take a trip and see a new part of SL that you have never seen before. We have travel providers in all time zones so trips are offered pretty much around the clock.
[12:44] Fawn Cobalt: We also announce information about hotels, resorts and interesting travel destinations. I love promoting mer sims in this group. I would love to see more mer places and hangouts being promoted in the Travel & Adventure group.
[12:45] Fawn Cobalt: The online magazine, Virtual Education Journal, just published its new issue with the theme “Traversing the Metaverse”. This issue is packed with a lot of very interesting articles. They included an article about the Travel & Adventure group which I would encourage you to read if you are interested. [12:45] Fawn Cobalt: We also offer fun contests and promotions to encourage travel and make it a little more fun. We are actually having a photography contest for the month of September with some great prizes. First prize is L$ 5,000. Second prize is L$ 2,500. Third Prize is L$ 1,500. Photos need to be submitted by September 30, 2025, so there is still plenty of time to take some pictures and enter them for a chance to win some of those nice prizes.
[12:46] Fawn Cobalt: I have also become concerned about a problem our world is facing in RL. In the middle of the Pacific Ocean there is an enormous island made of plastic waste products that end up in the ocean. It is called the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. This plastic harms marine life and can enter into the human food chain. Accordingly, I am developing some ideas for Travel & Adventure to engage in activities to raise awareness of this problem and to raise funds for non-profit organizations which are attempting to clean up this plastic pollution. If anyone is interested in more information about that or possibly helping out, feel free to contact me and we can discuss.
