[12:00 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: Welcome to Safe Waters Foundation weekly aquatic support gathering. My name is Miranda. I will be leading today’s meeting.
Welcome new and old aquatics and friends!
[12:00 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: People seem to arrive late and depart early. Please don’t be offended but as leader I will try to keep the meeting going. We don’t repeat things for latecomers – a log is posted on our blog after the meeting. This is not a place for public debate – this is a helpful place. we all help each other slive an aquatic lifestyle.
[12:01 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: Because we usually have good attendance – please take a moment to remove all extra attachments and huds. We’d like you to dress low lag. Big poofy hair and jewelry are big culprits, as are bubbles, script things, huds, and such. If we all cooperate, more merfolk can participate with less crashing. Thank you for your help with this.
[12:01 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: so how was yer week seafolk?
[12:01 PM] ?creamy? (creamydeliciousness Resident): excellent
[12:01 PM] Thabita (Shur1 Resident): Good

[12:02 PM] Rhodan Fishbottoms (Rhodan Fishtail): I walked him and gave him pets and/or treats
[12:02 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: I once booped the snoot of a dog fish but he shorted out
[12:03 PM] nathkyo lightdragon (nathkyo Resident): lol
[12:03 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: he looked like he had brain freeze
[12:04 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: anyone else?
[12:04 PM] ??????? ?????????? (Kalypso Evergarden): been baby stuff shopping
[12:05 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: aww rl or sl?
[12:05 PM] ??????? ?????????? (Kalypso Evergarden): SL lol, I can’t get pregnant in RL for many different reasons

[12:07 PM] Rhodan Fishbottoms (Rhodan Fishtail): I also fed a goat! I saw her on my walk with the dog
[12:07 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: Our priority today is support – we’re all here to help each other, cause we’re awesome like that.
[12:07 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: awww!
[12:07 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: I love them
[12:07 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: okay so the order is my introduction-done, introduce the new folks, sharing questions, ideas, and support to help each other-ie; tails, hair, bodies, AOs, requests, etc, then PSAs and promotion of events, sales or what ever else needs to be shared, then I close us out with our goals, maybe a group hug and picture.
So here we go!!
[12:08 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: Introductions
If you have brought someone new to this gathering, please introduce them now. If you are new and wish to introduce yourself please do so now.
just click on the podium to sit on it or sit were you are if thats just easier.
[12:08 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: A very short sentence is all that is needed – for example: hi, I am (your name) and I discovered aquatics (brief description of how you found us) and what I love about being aquatic is (explain here).
[12:08 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: so any new folk? raise a hand, fin, flipper, or tentacle
[12:08 PM] Rhodan Fishbottoms (Rhodan Fishtail): Hi Travis!
[12:08 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: tala
[12:08 PM] Travis (Travis1Norwood Resident): Tala, sorry i am late
[12:08 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: its cool, make your self comfortable
[12:09 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: so no new folk today?
[12:09 PM] Rhodan Fishbottoms (Rhodan Fishtail): Maybe my tail might grow a new upper half.
[12:10 PM] nathkyo lightdragon (nathkyo Resident): not unless you count them are babies
[12:10 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: okay well until then on to q&a
[12:10 PM] ?creamy? (creamydeliciousness Resident): Oo
[12:10 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: Questions and support requests
Now – what general questions can we discuss here today? Where do our aquatics need help? If you wish to share here – please im me so that I can call on you.
[12:11 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: anything mer is on the table..
[12:11 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: if you have any pressing questions about merfolking in sl now is a great time to ask.
[12:11 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: anyone?
[12:12 PM] ?creamy? (creamydeliciousness Resident): I just want to say, that I am very grateful SWF is here. Otherwise I would have little traffic at my Mer Grotto
[12:12 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: ? and we are grateful for you
[12:13 PM] ?creamy? (creamydeliciousness Resident): ???
[12:13 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: a good symbiotic relationship ?
[12:13 PM] Rhodan Fishbottoms (Rhodan Fishtail): Like a pearl fish and a sea cucumber
[12:14 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: or anemone and crabs that like to wear them as hats
[12:14 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: okay how about we move on to PSA?
[12:15 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: but first..Quick reminders/announcements
[12:15 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: Ad boards are awesome because they can help newer merfolk and aquatics find places to swim. If you need mer traffic, please consider renting an ad board.
[12:15 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: Perks include helping the group and being allowed to post ads in the group chat twice per week. Add in the fact that anyone can ask for the stick and that is great exposure.
[12:15 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: You might also consider being a hang out.
[12:15 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: Be sure to visit the safe waters foundation web site and event calendar at https://swfsl.com/
please also remember to contact ???? (Tabitha Sirensong) if you have an event you want on the calender. she did send out a form I’ll pass it to you if you need it.
[12:16 PM] ?creamy? (creamydeliciousness Resident): me please
[12:16 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: I was even able to post an event so yay!
[12:16 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: on its way
[12:16 PM] ?creamy? (creamydeliciousness Resident): right on
[12:16 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: and now…
Public service announcements
Now we allow a limited time for publicity. Who has something fun to share? A store, new sim, event, or news? If you wish to share here – please im me so that I can call on you.
[12:16 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: When you are called on (and given our invisible talking stick) please swim up to this podium (so people can see you to im if needed) and share (very briefly and preferable in two or three sentences typed in advance as our meeting time is limited)
[12:16 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: please im me to share so I can keep you all in order
[12:17 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: would anyone like to share while I dig for the nc?
[12:18 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: alright no shares, I have two ^.^
[12:19 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: okay
[12:19 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: Tala I’m Miranda and I come from Antiquity.
we have 16 sims to swim through, homes available, shopping spaces, mer spots, and active groups.
[12:19 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: We are totally inclusive, kids, mers, furs, landers all welcome and as always, we’re LGBT+ friendly.
[12:19 PM] ?creamy? (creamydeliciousness Resident): 16! wow!
[12:19 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: yep ^.^
[12:20 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: We still allow for mer toplessness under water.
[12:20 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: Just don’t flash the humans cause they faint. they get nosebleeds, that attracts sharks, more paper work for dad…
[12:20 PM] ?creamy? (creamydeliciousness Resident): good
[12:20 PM] nathkyo lightdragon (nathkyo Resident): been there very cool very awesome
[12:20 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: thank you ?
[12:20 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: we’re a light rp place. Set in a time loop between the golden age of piracy and the Victorian era
[12:20 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: we’re doing a cool thing where you can write up an rp and suggest it. Antiquity Battle Dock (http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Antiquity%20Battle%20Dock/38/119/2)
[12:21 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: we have a system called TCS. its a craft/trade/rp system that allows you to trade goods with other mers or landers. You can harvest and create things.
[12:21 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: we also have a mini shell game… basically you can find random things on the sea floor and if no hermit crabs need it, you can collect it.
[12:21 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: Please check out shops and houses to rent here,
Antiquity Bexar (http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Antiquity%20Bexar/178/107/2)
[12:21 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: second share!
[12:22 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: It’s Shalloween season! the tricks, the treats
[12:22 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: running away from sharks that discovered sugar for the first time ion their lives!
[12:23 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: but I digress… off the shore of Antiquity Texas the Shalloween events are taking place. We have house decorating, a scavenger hunt, a maze to go trough, maybe some heart starting surprises.
please feel free to swim on in. Still have one cottage fee at the time of me writing this. ^.^
Antiquity Texas (http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Antiquity%20Texas/139/163/12)
[12:23 PM] ?creamy? (creamydeliciousness Resident): sorry I have to swim
[12:23 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: aww ok lusa em
[12:23 PM] ?creamy? (creamydeliciousness Resident): lusa em my friends
[12:24 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: please bare in mind a 5 year old and 5 of my drunk brothers put together the cottages
[12:24 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: that’s it from me any other shares?
[12:25 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: or questions?
[12:25 PM] nathkyo lightdragon (nathkyo Resident): i was going to add that you’re sixteen sims some of them have no fly on so people should be aware that it they don’t use a swimming hud
[12:25 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: really? well we still have time would anyone like to engage in some mild chaos?
[12:26 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: oh I didn’t realize we have no fly in some places..
[12:26 PM] nathkyo lightdragon (nathkyo Resident): yeah
[12:26 PM] nathkyo lightdragon (nathkyo Resident): me and calypso here we’re all around the other day ran into a couple places with no fly
[12:27 PM] Rhodan Fishbottoms (Rhodan Fishtail): Is it full no fly or maybe group only fly? That one’s easy to miss by builders.
[12:27 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: welp if you go to lill scallywags in the mall section there, you can get a swimmer and not have to worry about flight
[12:27 PM] nathkyo lightdragon (nathkyo Resident): yeah we managed through it and we’ll probably pick one of those up
[12:27 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: well a few years ago people raised a rukus about flying
[12:28 PM] nathkyo lightdragon (nathkyo Resident): that’s understandable
[12:28 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: subs and Aley sea horses work good too
[12:28 PM] Rhodan Fishbottoms (Rhodan Fishtail): You can just override no fly settings though. You’d need a security orb thing to really stop flight
[12:29 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: She made one with a sub engine
[12:29 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: you can get free
[12:29 PM] nathkyo lightdragon (nathkyo Resident): oh cool
[12:30 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: yeah so if you ride one of those or have your own swimmer you should be fine. I find the merfloat hud lets you swim up and down in mouselook
[12:31 PM] nathkyo lightdragon (nathkyo Resident): cool i just thought i would bring up that there are no fly zones just in case people bump into them
[12:31 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: this you can swim realistically and the security orbs won’t touch ya, we have open rez everywhere for ship battles
[12:32 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: that’s an important thing I never fly so I didn’t realize it
[12:32 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: so thank you for bringing it up
[12:32 PM] nathkyo lightdragon (nathkyo Resident): i don’t really have a oh yet so flying for me is kind of key if i wanna be able to speed around places
[12:32 PM] nathkyo lightdragon (nathkyo Resident): oh no problem
[12:33 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: the sub scripts can help with that
[12:33 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: though some don’t stop on command
[12:33 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: any one else have a share?
[12:33 PM] nathkyo lightdragon (nathkyo Resident): lol
[12:34 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: I can adjourn us if you prefer
[12:35 PM] Rhodan Fishbottoms (Rhodan Fishtail): If you don’t adjourn can we all hang out here forever and become best friends?
[12:35 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: we could do that anyway
[12:35 PM] nathkyo lightdragon (nathkyo Resident): lol
[12:36 PM] Rhodan Fishbottoms (Rhodan Fishtail): I think I might have left my bath running back in Kelpwick
[12:36 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: but if you all find shalloween events or shopping events, you can share them here
[12:36 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: ooh
[12:36 PM] Miranda Barrowstone: This meeting is now adjourned. Remember our SWF goals:
- to assist those considering an underwater life
- to increase awareness in the general public that there is an underwater option
- to make mer resources (events, projects, groups, retailers, sims, designers) visible and easily accessible
- to assist, as possible, with the viability of mer resources so they may continue to be available to the community
- to promote the conservation of rl oceans, lakes and waterways and the nature that relies on them
Now go mingle and explore! Thanks for joining us this day!!
